Carine Nzodom, MD FAPA is the Medical Director of Housing and Homeless Services at OMH Central Office. She came to OMH in May 2024 from New York City Health and Hospitals where she worked as the Medical Director of Behavioral Health Homeless Services. In her previous role, she not only provided direct care to individuals experiencing homelessness with complex needs, including administering Electroconvulsive Therapy, but she helped develop, manage, and implement innovative programs (inpatient and outpatient) tailored to provide services to these vulnerable yet resilient clients. Dr. Nzodom has a history of serving clients in non-traditional settings such shelters, ACT, food pantry, supportive housing, and street outreach. She completed her residency at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She also completed a Diversity Leadership Fellowship at the American Psychiatric Association and a Public Psychiatry Fellowship at Columbia University. She is a published author and has given talks both nationally and internationally about healthcare disparities and addressing the needs of underserved people in the public mental health system. Dr. Nzodom is now an Albany County resident. She spends her free time exploring the area with her daughter and serving her stubborn cat.
