Rawle Andrews Jr., Esq. was appointed executive director of the American Psychiatric Association Foundation (APAF), the 501(c)(3) philanthropic and outreach arm affiliated of the APA, during 2021. Before joining the APA Foundation, Rawle held several progressively responsible management positions with AARP over 15 years, including most recently as a vice president and a member of the AARP national leadership team. He was in the private practice of law before joining AARP.

Rawle also is the president of the Rotary Club of Howard West (MD); a past, 2-term president of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia (BADC); a board member of the Thurgood Marshall Center Trust; an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and the Howard University School of Law; a Life Member of Leadership Maryland; and national chairman of the public policy committee of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He is a graduate of Houston-St. Thomas High School, Texas Southern University, the Howard University School of Law, and he holds an executive leadership certificate from the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.

Among other commendations, Rawle earned a 2022 U.S. President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Service; a 2025 inductee to the St. Thomas High School Hall of Honor (125th Anniversary Class); the 2022 Charles Hamilton Houston Award from the D.C. Courts; the 2016 National Humanitarian Award from the National Association of Black Veterans (NABVETS); and the 2006 Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year Award from the D.C. Bar.
